This really shouldn't be newsworthy....but....

Thank the Football Gods and football heaven for breaking up YokoRomo!
Sorry. It sucks. Yes, I'm sensitive. Breakups are a pain, but now I don't feel as bad for drafting Romo in my mock draft. I like the guy. But it's a little bit of a love/hate relationship. A little rocky. Maybe the way Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo's relationship was really like.

Not that it really matters. Romo is still that guy, that QB, who messed up that snap for the kicker against the Seahawks during the 06-07 season. The one where he totally blew it for the CowBoys. The only small most important playoffs...NFC Wildcard. I don't remember if he was dating YokoRomo at the time.

Romo is still that guy who brought that other famous blonde singer to his game. You may have heard of it. Something about a "curse"? "Carrie Curse" or "Jessica Curse"? Ring a bell? Lowest rating of his football career.

It's ok. Just make sure this guy doesn't get any new girlfriends at the start of the season. Or any important week during the FFOC season.

Better yet...

Keep this guy single.

P.S. No hard feelings, Jess. I know the pain. I hear some hot stud is newly single and on the market again...you might know him. Nick Lachey?

My pain is my badge of honor. Air McNair.

Why am I so hurt by the news about Steve McNair? I'm sad about all the deaths that have happened in the last few weeks, but I can't get over the Steve McNair story.

I loved MJ and maybe the media has played out the coverage a little too much, but this McNair story has got me super glued!

Why?

I mean, I just watched the breaking news that changed their initial investigation from a homicide to a murder-suicide. I just listened to the gruesome details of what they think happened in that Nashville condo.

But what the heck am I saying. Sounds like he was having an affair too. It's just sad. So sad. Poor girl. Poor wife. Poor families and friends. Poor McNair.

How do things get so twisted? I just want to talk football.

I just want to remember him as Steve McNair the football player. Steve McNair the QB.

I want to remember Steve McNair like this.......

...........don't you?

Check it. Drum roll, please....

I'm back people.

Calm down.

And I mean I'm back from Baltimore after getting stuck there for a night.

You see, I was trying to fly home to LA yesterday after an amazing 4th of July out in the countryside in Pennsylvania....riding ATV's and go-karts, shooting 9mm's and .22's, some pool time, beer, beers, beers, tons of food, fireworks...ya know, the usual, everyday activities.

Before I get into why I'm writing this post, I'm going to tell you how crazy it is that these kinds of things happen to me.

To make a very long story short, don't take the light rail from Hunt Valley to BWI airport. I'm sure that light rail runs on time everyday, just not when I'm riding it. They said it was running a little late.

A little late, they say. Yeah, right.

A small train ride, a 1/2 hour sit on the train, a 15 minute bus ride transfer, and another train ride....it ended up taking us 4 hours to get to BWI instead of the 50 minutes it would normally take. Then when we got there, we missed our flight by...oh...90 minutes.

That isn't even the worst part. The worst part is they don't sell beer at the nearby convenience store by the hotel. Actually, they don't sell beer at all any day at these places. I'm from California. They sell beer everywhere.

This morning I wanted to get a magazine and realized that this is the same airport last year the bf got me a magazine to read and he got me one of Fanball's, Just Cheat Sheets mags. This is where I found out about the FFOC.

I strolled into the magazine store and looked for some football mags and there it was hidden between some other fantasy football mag and a sporting magazine. I read in the FFOC forums that FFOC had a 16-page layout in all of the 3 fantasy football magazines (Just Cheat Sheets, Fantasy Football Annual, Fantasy Football Draft Guide).

It's a nice layout. Smack dab, right in the middle of the mag.

But let me tell you the best part of this whole FFOC layout. If you turn to page 74/75 in your newly bought Just Cheat Sheets mag, you will find an FFOC Mock Draft featuring guys that placed in various brackets, Shane Schroeder, of course, a couple of fanball analysts, and.......

..............Drum roll, please................

Giselle Alba - FFOC Blogger

It's not like I didn't know I was going to be in it already. I mean, we did actually do a mock draft a few months ago and the FFOC was really sweet to ask little old me to participate and I gladly accepted.

I was actually out of town that day we did our mock draft too. It was about 1am and I was drafting from a little town called AMSTERDAM! Ha!

Yes, Amsterdam. The real Amsterdam.

I drafted out of the 10th spot. Dead last. Which I usually hate, but I like back-to-back picks. I was really set on my first pick being Matt Forte and then Maurice Jones-Drew, but I knew from that spot I was kidding myself. I also wanted Randy Moss, and if you don' know me, I always want Randy Moss, he was the 16th pick overall but I went RB-RB and I wished I would've gone RB-WR, now seeing that there were still some great RB's left come round 3. I'm not too happy with my first QB pick with Romo in the 3rd also seeing there are always decent QB's left later. FFOC peeps are always big on being a little bit QB heavy, esp putting one in the flex position. I went with Hines Ward in the 5th since I had Santonio last year who went 7th in this mock draft. If you read my blog last year, it was a real pain having him. Pre-season, Holmes was raved about a lot by analysts and such and how Ward was going to see less catches because Holmes was going to be the go to guy for Big Ben. Ward got all the catches and points last year and Holmes didn't shine until post season and, as we all know, had that amazing catch in the Superbowl and eventually got MVP. During the regular season, all I got from Holmes was a lot of dropped balls, no connection whatsoever with Ben, and the most important part, no points. Eh, whatever.

Here's my draft. Pick at it if you want.

B. Westbrook
S. Slaton
T. Romo
D. Bowe
H. Ward
B. Roethlisberger
T. Hightower
E. Royal
T. Holt
J. Shockey
C. Buckhalter
M. Sanchez
D. Hester
L. McClain
Dallas Cowboys
J. Galloway
K. Boss
S. Morris
K. Collins
N. Rackers

For some strange reason, and I'm sure it's a typo, they have Devin Hester marked down as a RB in my draft. Although, Hester as a RB is not a bad idea. And the cap on drafting RB's is 6, so it looks like I have 7. Just an FYI.

There it is. My FFOC mock draft.

Check out the mags. Let me know what you think. Hope to se you all in the real FFOC drafts soon.

Yes, MaMa is still here. Believe it or not...

So basically I'm here to say that I'm back. Here I am rockin it in my hotel room once again...back to blogging for the FFOC, for those that do not know, FFOC stands for...Fantasy Football Open Championship or check us out at ffoc.com. This is what I do best. I like to talk football. I like to write football. I like to bathe in football and all its glory. Maybe the bathing part is a little much, but I'm trying to paint all of you a picture of my passion. Ok, maybe passion is a little too girly. Eh, ah. whatever. You get it. I love football. Plain. And. Simple. Period.

This time I'm blogging far from home. Home for me is California. I'm somewhere in Europe and got in about 2 hours ago. Ok, I'll give you a hint. One hint about where I'm at. I'm even positive I can give you just one hint and you can guess exactly where I am. I can even challenge that. I can give you one word that can describe this place and you will definitely figure it out. Ready for it?

CAFE

Well, after I just typed it out. I'm sure you can guess 2 places now. So, here is another hint. This time you will narrow it down to one.

COFFEESHOP

I should get to sleep or go to the closest market that I will call A.H., but to be honest with you, I can't seem to do either. Want to know why? Because I'm super psyched today. It's now 11am here and I can't get football off my mind. We are still 4 months away and the NFL is rockin and rollin! I'm still reeling from the NFL Draft that was nearly 2 weeks ago and now I'm already planning on who to draft this season.

My brain particles are zig-zagging in my head because I can't decide how many drafts I want to do this year, how many teams I want to create on FFOC, who I'm going to draft first, which rookie is going to start and make it big, how I'm going to survive without the GodFather, John Madden, when is old Coach Dave Wannstedt going to cut that crazy mustache of his, and why I still can't stand Tommy Maddox?!!

I know. I killed it at the end.

Basically, I'm prepping for a draft. I'm doing my studying. In good ol' Europe. Ah, the life.

Everyone together now...Gooooo, FUTBOL!! Oops, ahem...I mean, Gooooooo, FOOTBALL!! Sorry. Traveling hazard.

Holy Haley!

Hmm, will Anquan Boldin be out after an amazing year with Arizona? Could Todd Haley bring Boldin to Kansas City now that he is the new Head Coach there threatening all to beware of his new offensive attack? Pretty exciting. Kansas City was 2-14 this past season...we'll see if this Haley guy can turn it around.

KC was pretty much worst in everything this past season. You name it, they were just about the worst. Well, except that they did win at least 2 games. They will get the overall 3rd draft pick this coming April. I can't wait to see the changes. I personally am not a huge KC fan, but I have a love/hate relationship with change in football. So sad to see people go through trades or coaches that get fired, but so excited to see what changes will be made for the next season.

LJ and Tony Gonzalez want out of KC. Unhappy with the way things are going....blah, blah, blah. Croyle and Thigpen need some help with the QB situation. Injuries vs a so-so QB. What to do in KC. I'm glad I don't have to figure it out. I'm staying away from this team for a bit. I don't have any plans to pick anyone up at this point for Fantasy. Well, I actually never do. Well, maybe way back when Priest Holmes was around.

Ah, Priest. I miss that guy.

Home sweet Holmes?

Superbowl rocked. The commercials did not.

Sorry Arizona. Pittsburgh proved who the best is.

And the Superbowl MVP is.....Hine....wait a minute....no, it's.....Santonio Holmes!!!! Yay! My hero?

Hey guys. I'm super ecstatic for the guy. He did deserve it. Well, Holmes or Roethlisberger. But, uh, why couldn't Holmes pull that stuff off in regular season? What am I talking about you ask? How 'bout a few dropped balls and huge passes that shoulda been caught for a major TD? Roethlisberger too. All of a sudden he's the new hero who can scramble outta the pocket and throw across his body and somehow find a receiver open who almost always happens to be....who else? Santonio Holmes!!! O-Line? Wha? Wha-we-wawa! It's like a new team post season.

Whatever. Either way. I'm celebrating. Still celebrating. Sorry for those who couldn't decide on who should win and decided to go for the underdog. Ha, who am I kidding. I'm not sorry at all. This feels good.

Just say No to Encore.

It's been a week since I went to Vegas....again. I went to watch the AFC/NFC Championship games and of course make some bets (although, I never ended up making any bets). Let me just say that my stay at the new Encore Hotel from the Wynn Collection.....SUCKED!!!

First off, I make it a point to try to stay at nearly every hotel in Vegas...especially the new ones...right away. Encore is beautiful, I will say that. It's pretty much an updated version of the Wynn. The room is amazing. They're all suites. The beds are enormous and the pillows are big and fluffy. For some reason, I took a major liking to the bathrobes that came with the room. They're not like regular bathrobes. They're not the big terry cloth kind like at the Venetian. They look kinda elegant but it sops up all that moisture from when you get out of the shower. And it kept me super warm. I don't know. I'm weird. I really enjoyed those bad boys. Then, you have a separate living room area where the huge flat screed can be swiveled from the bedroom to the living room area. I thought it was cool....wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows. Remote controlled lights and drapes from a little gadget on your nightstand. The usual fixings of a higher end Vegas hotel.

The service sucks and it's too far on the Strip. I knew that already but wanted to stay there at least once and that's why when I decided to stay there, I knew it would be my last. Oh boy! Was I ever so right about that statement.  Service sucked. Check in sucked. Cocktail service sucked. Bartenders sucked. Empty promises. No service recovery.

I'll tell you who was extremely nice. The security guy guarding the entrance door from the parking lot elevators. Nice welcome at 7:30am. We chit-chatted for a bit and enjoyed it. The lady that checks your room key to use the elevators to get to your rooms. She joked around with me and remembered me every time because I kept using the wrong elevators to get to my room. And uh....that's about it. Yes, I called and complained and even the manager I spoke to didn't tickle my fancy when she said she would take care of my check in problem. I didn't think she truly felt my pain.

Here's an example of super awful service at Encore:

Cocktail server: Cocktails?
Me: Jack and Diet, please.

...(probably a good half hour later)...

Cocktail server: Jack and Diet?

...we tip her...and we tip her extra...because we know she is going to take a day to give us our next round

Me: Here's your tip and can you bring us another round (jokingly) because we're thirsty!
Cocktail server: Well, uh, I'm busy....so you better drink slow.

Can you believe that crap?
Then...maybe 15 minutes later...after we did drink our cocktails a little bit slower...

Cocktail server: Oh, you guys didn't even finish your last round of drinks.

She says this as she is, lo and behold, holding another round of drinks for us.

Me: Oh, it's ok...we'll take it.
Cocktail server: Well, I can't give you these unless you finish the ones you have now.

Us: Ok.

We down them in .01 seconds

Oh, also.....do you know how you can sit up at the bar and play video poker and you usually get your drinks for free? That is if you are betting enough and continue to play while sitting there. Forget it at Encore. You still gotta pay up for those drinks you order. Weird huh? Maybe they were jerking us around, but we ended buying our drinks since lazy cocktail server didn't wanna come around and bring us any cocktails.

Other than the crap we put up with at Encore, we had a great time. Who am I to complain? Steelers won right? Perfect. So Warner did it. Good for him. But can he win the SuperBowl? Where will all of you be watching the game? I won' t be going to Vegas for SuperBowl. Going to stay here in California and watch it in Hermosa. Friends. Food. Drinks. Fun.

Then the week after....ProBowl. Hawaii. Any of you gonna be there?

Well, look who's back....

So, I'm back. Mm-hmm. And I can smell the Conference Championship around the corner. That is, the Vegas corner!! Yes, I know. I'm a Vegas freakazoid and I am definitely going to be there this Sunday, January 18. So, come say hello if you can find me. And it will be one of those late night drives to Vegas, you know, the one where me and the bf leave LA (and I have to drive so the baby bf can go shweepies in the car) around 4am on Sunday and get to Sin City around 7am? Yeah, one of those. Don't worry though. I'm usually not a cranky butt. I can definitely function on no sleep. But, it won't be too bad as long as the hotel let's us check in early. Sleep, shower, watch some pregame schtuff, place some bets/parlays, then head over to the sports book. By the way, if you see us, let's just keep it between me and all of you that I talked about him in this blog! Thanks in advance.

Baltimore vs Pittsburgh
Philadelphia vs Arizona

What's your pick here?

Most of you know, I am a Steelers fan. But, it's not to say that the matchup is going to be easy. Ok, we have home-field advantage. That's perfect. We have that RB beast, Parker, who put in those amazing numbers in rushing yards last weekend, 146 yds, 2 TD's on 27 carries. Polamalu tweaked his calf last Sunday against San Diego, but should be fine by game time. Let's just hope and pray that Holmes is going to surprise us with some crazy moves out there on the field. Ward, can continue his job as the wide receiver with that big, cheesy grin that he somehow Houdini's his way into making the opposing team flagged for a personal foul or late hit penalty. Let's keep up the great defensive work Steelers. O-line? Let's just get it together so that Big Ben doesn't have to scramble in that small pocket of his. Ben.....let's do this!

Ravens are kind of scary. Let's face it, Mr. Ed Reed is scary! But, I have to admit, I love him. How the heck does he do it? I used to play in a fantasy football league with my friends that included defensive players in our lineup and Reed was always picked up pretty fast! He's an interception machine. Flacco has made a good impression in his rookie year. I had him in ff this season and he put up some pretty points for me here and there. McClain racked up a few pretty TD's in regular season. Twice as many as Ol' Willie Parker.

Two teams. Two great defenses. I'm thinking...low scoring game, yes?

All I have to say about Arizona is, Bravo! I take back what I said about you Warner. I guess, your time is not up yet. And yes, I will agree. You are a starting QB. Warner cries every year and makes it known that he is not a backup QB. Ok, fine you're not. You did a great job this season. I wouldn't mind seeing you guys at the SuperBowl.

Philadelphia? I've always been a fan of McNabb. Westbrook is pretty nasty himself. That's nasty....like in a good way....nasty. I passed on him during the draft this season. Yeah, I almost puked. I really wanted to puke after Brady's knee issues. Good one, Mama. Great picks this year!! DeSean Jackson? Just play it safe and no diving a yard too soon before the end zone or spiking the ball too early. I would love to see Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in the SuperBowl. How amazing would that be? Let's go Pennsylvania!!!!

How bout a lil highlight from a previous Eagles vs Steelers game? Let's get pumped!!!!

STEELERS!!!!

The trip to the FFOC Championship in Vegas!

As promised, I told all of you I would blog about my trip to Vegas for the FFOC Championship. Here goes....and it's a pretty long story...

It basically started like this....
Saturday Dec. 20 around 8:00 am - Get a call from work and refuse to answer the call....as usual. Fall back asleep until I get the voicemail alert. 8:03 am - voicemail message alert.
8:05 am - another call from work. I ignore it.
8:10 am - curious to hear the message. Call my voicemail. Message basically says....no work this weekend = I can now go to the FFOC Championship in Vegas.
12:30 pm - Not sure of the time here because my bf usually gets up around 1:30 or even 2 sometimes in the afternoon but I distinctly remember him getting up "early" today. I remember him doing his thing on his laptop and throw the bomb on him.
Me: Working tomorrow?
BF: Uh, yeah.
Me: What time?
BF: 5:00?
Me: Wanna go to Vegas, instead?
BF: ??????

You see, it doesn't take long for me to convince my bf to go. Initially, he said no. Or maybe it was "I can't". He wants to go. We can never say no to Vegas. I would have gone regardless of his decision, just would be fun if we went together. I have done Vegas trips by myself before. It's cool. It's fun. But better if you have a friend or a bf in this case. In short, he had a long battle in his head whether or not it was a good idea to go. He fought and fought hard. The side that wanted to go to Vegas ended up winning.

We decided on a late night drive to Vegas to get there early so we could bet on the games and get a seat at the sportsbook at Bellagio because usually those places get pretty packed. We left at 4:30am and got to Vegas around 8am. We were a little worried we wouldn't be able to check in at Planet Hollywood (stayed here again because it was dirt cheap and across the street from Bellagio) so early when we got there, but we got lucky and had enough time to change and head over to the sportsbook

I make my stupid parlay bets in time. I call them stupid because I, of course, end up losing all of them. We find a seat and I immediately look for "FFOC" peeps.

None. I'm not exactly sure what I am looking for, but I don't see a hint of 15 guys in a group together or even Stan. I have never met Stan, but I have seen his itty-bitty pic on the FFOC website. So then I'm looking for a guy with crazy hair and blondish streaks who I am hoping has an FFOC shirt on or something. None. Until I finally get my drink and think I spot Stan talking to a couple of guys somewhat across from me. I think I spot an FFOC shirt but he quickly runs off to some land I cannot find. I repeatedly get up to still look for these people. As you know, I'm not technically invited to this championship shindig and I didn't exactly give an RSVP to the event either. I am a blogger for the FFOC, not a winner. Plus, I don't think anyone else decided on making the trip to Vegas. Did anyone? Because I didn't see anyone else there but me. Kinda sweet if you ask me!!

When Pittsburgh ended up losing to Tennessee, my bf huffed and puffed and decided he was going to take a nap....i.e. piss and moan to himself about the game. Don't get me wrong. I'm mad too. I'm a Steelers fan. But I'm really a better fantasy football fan!! I stay to watch all the other games by myself and esp. wanna see if I win any of my bets. Actually, I don't blame him for going back to the room. We never really did get any sleep. We're working on being up for 24hrs!

So, it figures, when the bf leaves, guess who I run into at the bar I'm still drinking at? Yep, Mr. Stan the FFOC Man, himself! It turns out, the FFOC got a private room for themselves to watch the games and all 15 of the guys showed up. This is why I could not find an FFOC soul anywhere at the Bellagio. They had their own secret hiding place. Lucky. But Stan did take me in and let me be apart of the FFOC gang. I saw them all. All with their laptops and notes each sitting on some nice couches watching the game on a big screen. Did I say game? Yes, there was a downfall to it all. Even though they had this private room and can get free drinks and all, they couldn't watch all the football games.

This is where it gets kinda hazy. I'm an idiot when it come to Vegas. I don't like to eat when I'm there. It's like I forget or I don't have time. I don't have an appetite. Only a liquid appetite. A big one!! I fail to mention that I think I already had 4 or 5 strong Jack and diets by the time I saw Stan (the bartender really hooked up those drinks!). Then, I had a few more when I was in that room.

This is what I planned on happening at the FFOC event...

Meet all 15 players.
Take notes for blogging later.
Find guy from Atlanta who nearly missed his flight to Vegas because of some lost reservation.
Meet Cocktails and Dreams guy.
Find out if any of these guys know there is an Owner's blog link on the FFOC and if they have ever read my stuff.
Network, if any.
Talk to Stan more.

This is what actually happened...

I did see all 15 players. I didn't meet all of them.

I did find that guy from Atlanta, I asked which one he was, he raised his hand, but I never got a chance to speak with him.

I did meet Mr. C&D. I did talk to him, even took some notes. But the notes were a little jumbled. Scribbled on my sheet from the sportsbook with the spreads. The notes say something like this....23 - C&D - Omaha, NB - Pro-Gambler....and that's it. I'm sorry dude. You are a very sweet guy and it was a real pleasure speaking with you. I just hope I wasn't being a belligerent fool in front of you. I'm pretty sure I wasn't because I can hide that stuff pretty well....to an extent.

I also met Touched by an Angel, who if you read on the forums, was desperately trying to change his name to something else. Hasen-something? Or was it peepdot something? Sorry again. These are my notes on this guy. First, did I get your name? I remember laughing a lot with this dude. I think he was the one with a wife who he didn't bring because she doesn't care about football or sports but cares deeply about her man winning the Million. Notes say this....Austin, TX - peepdot ( I remember him explaining the website and how I went to it before I arrived in Vegas) - Hasenpfeffer (although I don't remember what it meant - US Air - home - bringing home $$ - Ted Ginn, Andre Johnson started. That's all I have. Not sure what it all means, but I'm sure he knows if you put it all together. Sorry again. You were sweet too.

By the way, I think I told these guys ahead of time I wasn't media or anything and I wasn't really interviewing them. I was afraid they might think I was someone really important and I kinda felt like an idiot since I'm a nobody. This is where I mention that I am an FFOC blogger. Both of these guys told me they read my blog. I am flattered. Very. Thanks.

I hate to say it....but that is pretty much it.

Stan was great. Very sweet and I was happy he let me be a part of the FFOC stuff on Sunday. Stan and I talked about the FFOC and how I thought he had a great turnout for the first year. He introduced me to a few people here and there and wish I had more time to chat with all of them more in depth, but didn't have the chance. Then, I dropped the bomb and said I was leaving around noon on Monday....the day of the main event. Bummer. Seriously. I didn't get to meet Mr. Jerry Rice I didn't even get to see who won. I mean, I saw the clip of the guy that did win later in the week, but I missed the whole thing. I had to get back home and the bf had to get back to work.

It was an amazing year of Fantasy Football. Although, I didn't win...or even come close in the end, I will say that I will definitely join again next year. Thanks everyone for a great football season and thank you to all who even bothered to read my blog.

Dustin and Scott....my fellow FFOC bloggers, you two had amazing blogs yourselves. Also, thanks for keeping in touch and for the feedback. See you next season....

Thank you Stan for giving me the opportunity to vent about football.

Good luck to all of you who still are rooting for the teams left in the playoffs!

The End. Well, just for the FFOC.

Trust me. It is the end for the FFOC, but definitely not the end for MaMalike.
It's Christmas Eve and just wanted to say Merry Christmas. Or Happy holidays! Whatever it is you celebrate this season.
I will blog about the trip to Vegas for the FFOC Championship when all of this holiday hoopla slows down.
Things are pretty nuts right now and I'm on my way to catch a flight.
Yes, on Christmas Eve.
Don't worry. I celebrated already. Got tons of stuff. Got stuff I wanted too and more. Although, I didn't get my Desert Eagle.
It's kind of a joke, but a joke that's been going on for a few years now. I did get a gift that I've been asking for for about 13 years now and finally got it.
Anyways, happy holidays. Will be blogging soon....

War. It's on.

As my life feels as if it's dwindling out of control, I simple realize that it can definitely be much worse. I just read that Matt Cassel's dad died this week and is uncertain of his return to New England. On the other hand, I have been handed a blessing in disguise. I called in sick from work last month and was really bummed about it because I was going to go to Amsterdam and Mumbai. Everyone knows what happened there in Mumbai. To be honest with you, I was supposed to depart Mumbai the day before the attacks. I would have been fortunate to have missed it, but the thought still haunts me a bit. My co-workers that did make the trip have luckily all came home safe, but all had an up close and personal experience. Also, I was supposed to stay at one of the hotels that was attacked. But, enough of that already.

And I now believe I won't be able to make it to Vegas for the FFOC Championship shindig. I'm bummed. Work got in the way. I still have a small chance at making it, but we'll see the closer it gets. If I am not able to make it, have a great time and play some craps for me.

Tonight is the Saints/Bears game. I am pretty excited about this game. Both teams are 7-6. I don't know about all of you out there, but I'm picking Chicago. It would really make me happy and put a great big smile on my face. Forte has had an exciting rookie year. Who knew he was going to pass Gale Sayers record? Bush is back and Thomas is a madman on the field these days. I'm hoping the Bears defense can stop 'em. It's going to be war between the 2 teams, as Chicago beat New Orleans last year in the NFC Championship game.

Now....if I can only get Minnesota to lose.....

The Weekend Madness.

Whew! What a weekend!

I made sure I was home all weekend with no interruptions. No work. Nothing. It started on Friday. Drinks with some friends in the early evening, then some poker a little later with other friends.

1. Drinks with friends - talked about how old we are getting and reminisced about old Nintendo games like Mike Tyson's Punchout and the game that came with the Nintendo set. Also discussed Guns 'N Roses newly released Chinese Democracy CD and how Dr. Pepper is staying true to their word that we are all receiving a coupon in the mail for a free Dr. Pepper because they initially didn't believe GnR's was going to release their much anticipated CD probably for another 10 years.
2. Poker - I lost. Guess the drinks got to me and wasn't able to get any good cards. But not to worry, I won my money back and then some on Sunday night when it's our usual poker night. Pulling out some Boats and higher Straights all night on the Flop and once on the River. I love to River people.

Saturday rolls around and all I can think about is the DeLaHoya vs Pacquiao fight. 8:00pm can't come around fast enough. Pay-per-view set, $65 well spent, family all around, Filipino pride in the air and, long story short,....a win from Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao!!! Yay!! Sorry Oscar. Maybe your time has passed. Guess you always have your singing career to fall back on. Sorry, trying not to choke on....nothing.

Sunday football. What's not to like this past Sunday? Chicago won, Pittsburgh won, Patriots barely won, Tennessee and Arizona had great games, Giants lost. All sounds good to me. But what I want to talk about here are 2 of the most hottest topics. Well, they're pretty hot to me.

Let's start with topic #1....Visanthe Shiancoe.

Did you catch it? Did you get to see it? I didn't. I know you're all probably tired of hearing about it too. Just wanted to share it with all of you if you didn't catch it or have no idea what I'm talking about. Minnesota Vikings owner, Zygmunt Wilf, pranced into the Vikes locker room after the Vikings/Lions game with television news crew in tow, to present Coach Childress with the game ball. TE, Shiancoe presented viewers with another, ahem, game ball! Something about a towel not covering enough, then the news peeps not noticing and aired the footage and is now sincerely sorry and completely embarrassed. Apologies were exchanged. End of story. You can still catch a still pic off the Internet, but YouTube is too fast for my little fingers. They've pulled all footage already. Visanthe's response to all of this unfortunate newfound fame, you ask? "How'd it look?".

#2. What's this garbage Jerry Jones is babbling about? I can't figure out how I feel about his remarks. Initially, I was a bit heated. Marion Barber has a bad pinkie toe and didn't play. So what? Romo had a bad pinkie on his hand and took some time off. I didn't hear anything about that from JJ. Also, wasn't LT out for awhile with his bad toe? I don't know if JJ has broken anything (I haven't), but it sounds tough and painful to run on. I don't think it's fair to be talking to your players like that if you have no idea what the heck you're talking about. Eh, he's just sore because they lost to Pittsburgh. Besides, I'm not sure the "Barberian" would have "saved" the Crybabys Cowboys. We saw the turnovers and no score until a field goal right before the half and not to mention the first NFL game start for Tashard Choice. What's wrong with that guy? Nothing. JJ doesn't even give the guy any props (proper respect). What did he put up? 88 yards rushing, 78 receiving. No TD's but hey, nice start. So chill Mr. Jones. Marion may just release the Barberian on your a** when he gets that toe up and running again!

Is it me, or does it still look like Oscar is bobbing and weaving when he dances? You be the judge. I leave you with this vid.

What the heck happened to....

Randy Moss
Chicago Bears
Kyle Orton
The Jets
should I even mention this? Plaxico Burress
...just to name a few...
What happened to all of them this past week?

Just curious if you noticed as well. I wanted to puke on myself, since that's the new thing I like to do when football just makes a wrong turn to negative town, when I watched all of them play. Chicago just killed me...knife right in my heart and twisted. And Moss? Come on, who has he been practicing with lately? Santonio Holmes? Moss is my favorite player/receiver. Sunday was an example of not being my favorite player/receiver. How many TD's could he have caught. 1...2...3, maybe? Grrrr.....

The Burress story is done. We all know. But, I have one question. How come when they show Plax getting out of that car and back in....what's with the limp-less leg? I haven't ever been shot in the leg before or anywhere else for that matter, but don't people usually limp or something after an injury like that? I mean even hamstring injury players limp, which, ironically, is why Burress wasn't supposed to play in week 13 anyways.

Just some games that I keep going through in my head and keep wondering why.

Hmmm.....

Cocktails and Dreams for me, please!

Since I am still in the running for the Las Vegas (Loser) Bracket, I was curious to check out some of the competing teams for the real Las Vegas Bracket.

I picked the team, Cocktails and Dreams. He actually came in 1st for week 13 in points with, 182.36. I know it was an easy pick, checking on someones team that is at the top. I initially was going to go random and check, let's say, #14 in most points for week 13, who is actually, Xeacianfrocco3, but I became fascinated with C&D and his team, or shall I say teams!

This is where I did a little research. After checking out this guy's FFOC team that consisted of amazing players, I was curious where he landed overall in the Las Vegas Bracket with total points.

I found his name right away on the first page of the LV Bracket. I looked again and realized this guys has another team and it is called, Cocktails and Dreams XVIII. This team is ranked 15th overall. Lucky. Another amazing team. Although, I do love his other team better. Then if you scroll down a little bit further, not too far, just to the 19th overall, you come across, Cocktails and Dreams XIV. Then, you can find Mr. Cocktails and Dreams right around #27 on the next page and also #97. I'm sure he has more, but that's as far as I go. I don't want to go stalker on this guy from Nebraska.

What I really like about this guy's teams is that he has different players in each one. It's not like the same players giving him the same points in different leagues. This guy has this completely planned out. He knew who the right picks were and probably made a good bet on some these football players when it came time to free agent pick ups. Don't get me wrong here. I know there are plenty of other fantasy players out there doing the same thing, I just picked this guy as the guinea pig.

You see, I play fantasy football with some friends here at home, and let me tell ya, I know exactly who this guy we play with is going to pick every year. And sometimes we do join other leagues together and he picks the same players. I guess, it's a little OCD for him, ya know, not being able to go outside the box. But, I'll give it to him. He is always in the top 3. Lucky, I swear. He the guy that likes to call ESPN or someone like Mike & Mike in the Morning for advice on who to start/pick up.

Back to C&D, I favor his original Cocktails and Dreams that is ranked #27 overall in the LV Bracket. Check him out. I'll keep my eye out for other fascinating teams, but I may just follow this guy to the end. Great name, great teams, great movie.....that is, if he named his team after the bar in Cocktail. Good luck.

And good luck to all of you other Las Vegas brats still in the running for the million. And of course, to all of you other players in the other brackets as well. At least, I'm not totally out. I still have the Red Zone Bracket and my Las Vegas (Loser) Bracket. All of you other fantasy players in that bracket are still joining me, right?

Snow + Frostbite = 10 minutes from amputation.

I missed all the football games last Sunday. Boo, I hate that. All but one. And I have a perfectly good excuse for that. Here's what I did do instead....

Had a brief meeting with "Moon" Mullins, there was the Bru Lounge, Superbowl rings, free food and Coors Light, an amazing game and 11-10...a first in NFL history to end up in that score. Oh, and picking up some of the locals lingo to fit in...Yinz read my previous blog?

If you guessed the Chargers vs Steelers game, you are absolutely right!!

Even though it felt like -20 degrees Fahrenheit, I enjoyed every minute of it. Home games are a real treat compared to being the visiting team. It bites and bites harder when you lose. Fights are almost guaranteed.

Ok, I'll admit. I don't know who Moon Mullins is. He was a featured guest at the Bru Lounge and I was still eager to meet the guy. He's a native of California, a USC alumni and has 4 Superbowl rings, that he was gracious enough to let me try on, as a former Steeler. What's not to like? Well, I can actually name one minor thing. He did block for that nutjob, OJ Simpson, at USC. But that's the only thing.

This Bru Lounge place was a little cozy bar where we were able to get pictures with Moon Mullins, munch on some free food and drinks, and watch a little bit of the Giants/Ravens game. It was a hop, skip, and a jump from the stadium. We planned on stopping to get some beers for a brief tailgate, but I learned something interesting about Pennsylvania. You can't buy alcoholic beverages at a 7-11 or the grocery store. You have to purchase it from a distributor or something like that. Wow, I thank my lucky stars for not having a law like that in California. So, we bought some off the Bru Lounge people and headed towards Heinz Field.

Other than a handful of mishaps along the way like, the snow starting to come down on our walk to Heinz, my toes and fingers almost frostbitten and wanting to fall off, to not knowing we can't take a backpack inside the stadium, the "You either take it back to your car or throw it away" solution was not going to cut it, I was overwhelmed and excited to be around other fellow black and gold fans. By the way, I eventually was able to take the backpack in because I am Slick Mama. The trick is simply to just walk right in. The security people were busy talking they didn't even see little ol' me walk by. I even brought in my noise maker that they hate too. Sorry to be so rebellious but it's just so darn fun!

I'm sure some of you saw the game on TV. Maybe you were even there right next to me. I was sitting in the end zone area. Holmes pretty much had no action. Big Ben was tough to watch...sometimes I just want to take the ball and throw it for him. Then, of course, the crazy plays near the end of the game. The refs must have been Chargers fans or something because of Parker's TD that was taken back because of some silly holding call and the forward/lateral pass that fell into the hands of Polamalu for a TD, but taken away as well. Then I find in the paper the next day that the ref looked back on his call and basically said "Oops, I was wrong, it should've been a TD but it's too late, sor-ry!". What kind of garbage is that?

It really was a great game. Steelers won. Good people. Good times. I really couldn't ask for anything more that Sunday. Well, maybe a higher standing in my FFOC Red Zone and August brackets.

Steelers play again tonight against Cincy...

Who wants to make a bet with me?

The NFL Ticket should be mandatory.

Let me tell you something. Don't ever get stuck in Northbrook, Illinois on a Thursday night when football is airing on the NFL Network. Yeah, I was ready to lay on my bed in my hotel room and watch some Broncos/Browns action when I realized the NFL Network is nowhere to be found on my TV. So, I put my shoes on and ran downstairs to the hotel bar to grab a beer and some food and watch it there. It was quiet. Then, it made sense. Why would the bar have the NFL Network and not my room? So, sure enough, the bar was dead and no football.

Me: Do you have the NFL Network down here?
Bartender: No.
Me: What? That's crazy! No football?
Bartender: I have college on.
Me: No. I want the NFL Network.
Bartender: Yeah, I know, it sucks. I really wanna watch it too...........uuhhh, who's playing?
Me: Denver/Cleveland
Bartender: Oh well, no one wants to watch that game. Why would you wanna watch that game anyway?
Me: (screaming on the inside....) GRRRRRR!!!!!

Needless to say, he really doesn't care too much and probably really didn't know there was an NFL game. And obviously not a football fan. PERIOD! Nearest bar? 15 minute drive. Did I have a car? NO!

I have Sprint as my cell phone provider. They offer the NFL Network, LIVE, on your phone through Sprint TV. I remembered this and went back to my room. When I launched the NFL Network, there was even a little reminder that popped up and said to watch tonight's game right from your phone, Live!! Except when it did launch, the video didn't stream well and broke up every 2 seconds and watching football on a 2x2 screen does not work. At all.

I gave up and just got updates on my phone and had to refresh the page every 15 seconds. Quinn's opening night and I miss it. I can't stand not being able to watch a game and just catching up through highlights. Seeing Royal have a great game through the highlights made me want to barf. You see, if you remember, I have B. Marshall. I know he won the game and Stokley was good enough to convince Marshall not to throw out that glove that he had in his pants, but Royal is a beast and did no wonders for me and my team.

I also missed my flight home to LA on Saturday night by 5 minutes. The last flight of the day to LA. I had to stay the night in Michigan and catch the first flight home to LA in the morning. Yes, that is Sunday morning. When I touched down in LA, it was around 11:20am. You got it! I missed the morning games. And when I got home, I had to sort through my pile of mail and get settled in. It was also my mom's birthday and a friends birthday that day and had to plan for that.

Long story short? (I know, too late) I missed football this past weekend. Never saw one game. Never had time. It was a dreary Thursday and Sunday.

And I'll show you another thing I missed. But if any of you missed it, I have it right here for you. I'm sort of obsessed with Singletary at the moment. Completely and totally pulling for the guy.

Breathe Dilfer...breathe.

I don't watch very much college football. But I did watch Quinn when he was at Notre Dame. I liked him. His style. That's because every time I did watch the Fighting Irish, they had a good game and Brady threw amazing passes. I have to admit, I was attracted to his name. It really sounds like a good football name. I often wonder if his parents were thinking it sounded like a good QB name.

Anyways, so he starts the first Thursday NFL game for Cleveland. They finally benched Anderson and are taking a chance on Quinn. People have mixed feelings about it. And we've all heard the ranting and raving from former Cleveland QB-turned analyst, Trent Dilfer. I'm fine. They drafted the guy knowing the kid's got some talent. He's been on the bench this whole time watching, learning, reviewing. Give the kid a chance. Yeah, I get it. I don't think it's Anderson either. It's the team. And they haven't been the best this year. But, you need to try something different and change things up a bit. When you shake things up, sometimes it becomes a good thing. Take Grossman from Chicago, for example. It was a toss up. Gee, Orton or Grossman. We all know the fiasco. Look at Chicago now. Well, not sure now that Orton is hurt. But they were looking pretty good for a bit there. Experts and analysts were putting Orton up there with Favre. After Favre threw those eye-poppin' 6 TD's that one game, Orton was 2nd to Favre in TD passes...I think for 3 games straight!

So, long story short, I'm pretty stoked on the Quinn deal. If he tanks, well, Cleveland really needs to look at fixing the team. I used to love the way he chucked that ball. Maybe all of you forgot what he looked like at Notre Dame. Don't worry. I'm here to remind you.

Will the loser of the FFOC please stand up?!

Oh, haha, that'd be me. But I can't take all the credit for losing. Puh-leaze. If I have to call some players out from week 9 so that you get it, then I will. Gladly.

I couldn't have lost without the following players...
Joseph Addai - For being one of the worst draft picks this year, aside from, of course, Mr. Brady. I really can't figure what is worse. The injuries or the fact that he can't run even if his pads were on fire!
Plaxico Burress - 34 yds on 3 receptions...blah!
Rudi Johnson - Took a chance on him again because all my good RB's are on bye, of course. But the last time I put him in, he scored a TD. 19 RuYds, 13 ReYds...yeah, not so much this time around.
Kyle Orton - You all know why I put this guy on my list. What a surprise, right? Injury? All I gotta say.
Brandon Marshall - Is that 27 yards? 27 whole yards? I thought so. 'nuff said.
Lee Evans - 41 yards. Must I go on? Probably not. I'm sure you're all rolling on the floor laughing...you know the rest.
Heath Miller - In case you missed Monday night football. He got a big, fat I-N-J-U-R-Y!! Thank God I don't have Big "shoulder injury" Ben.

Ok. That's enough.

Now, let me tell you a few surprises. Yes, surprises, even when we are at week 9.
Santonio Holmes - Someone please tell me that it wasn't just me who saw all his mistakes. How many times did he get thrown to on Monday and couldn't catch the ball. And when he finally did, and it was in the end zone, didn't he seem, sort of, caught off guard, like, he couldn't believe he caught it? Mm-hmm!
Joe Flacco - Yeah, I put him in. Delhomme was on bye. 248 PaYds, 2 PaTDs, 2 RuYds for 20.12 points. Wow! Nice numbers for the guy.
Reggie Brown - Nothing spectacular, but I was surprised he found the end zone.

If I would've put in Jamaal Charles (but why, right?) and the Cardinals defense...I would've won. But I'm not gonna go thru the woulda, shoulda, coulda's now.

I'm still up for $6,000, right?

Planet Fantasywood.

2 FFOC losses, $300 lighter in my bank account and a 4 hour drive later, I find myself back at home typing up a new blog post about my 3 day stay at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

It was a busy Monday night at the Playing Field SportsBook at Planet Hollywood. The World Series and Monday Night Football paired with some Jack and Diet cocktails and good friends...good times, I tell ya,

I didn't place any parlays this time, although I should have. I can't tell you how many people were pulling for a Colts win. I will admit it was pretty close at first. All of my friends bet on them. I think I was the only one who would've bet on Tennessee. And after finding my bill later, where apparently it costs $20 for a double Jack, I REALLY wish I bet to collect my winnings and pay for that ridiculous bill. And, I wish I never went Downtown, which I never do, because I hit up 4 tables (Craps, Let it Ride, BlackJack, and Pai-Gow) and about 3 slot machines and lost every time. I should've known last weekend was going to tank. I started off getting sick on the road and right when I got sick, I realized I left my ID/wallet in my car at home and had to turn around and get it. We finally got to Vegas around 3am. I think we left at 9pm. It usually only takes 3 1/2 hrs. Although, if I drive, I can get us there in 3.

So, that's it. Please don't let me explain in detail about my teams here. I lost. Both of them. Plain and simple. No Mill coming my way. Byes and injuries suck. Suspensions are even worse. Ahem, thanks Santonio. And I did watch football with a bunch of dudes this weekend so I was never interrupted with talk of non-sense and all. I can tell you this, I should've started Lance Moore.

This bracket stuff is confusing for me. I thought I understood it, but I really don't. What I do know is this, I am definitely not in the Las Vegas Bracket. And, I will most likely be in Vegas during the whole FFOC Championship shindig thing in December whether or not I am invited.

In 2 weeks I will be watching a football game at a stadium I have been dying to see for awhile now. Last time I went to a game I was sporting the visitor jersey in Denver.

MaMaLike + Beer + visiting team jersey + Invesco Field = FIGHT! And a lot of s*** talking!

So, this time I will be the home team. I will blog about it all later. For now, good luck FFOC teams. This is the last week for trades and drops and all that good stuff. Yikes!!

Cute clip. Bad acting for Eli. Stick to Football. Leave the acting to Peyton.

No Chicks Allowed!! Not when I'm a Champion Week 7.

138.42 vs 116.54

That's the score between myself and my opponent for Week 7. And I am proud to say, not only did I win last weekend, but I also had the most points in my league! And, I had more points than the top 23 FFOC players that week! Ah, sweet fantasy life. But it probably ends there, once again. It's crunch time, people! These next 2 weeks are pretty crucial.

Once again, I was in a semi-crowded smoky bar last Sunday, but this time I was on the East Coast at Blinco's, apparently the best bar to watch sports in Raleigh, NC. I made the mistake of going with a girl who knows nothing about football. Not, that it matters. Its just that if you are a girl and you go with another girl who doesn't really care about football, all they want to do is talk or chat the WHOLE time. In other words, distract you from football. I swear I am not half man or anything, well not physically, but maybe mentally when it comes to football. So, now I get it fellas. Yes, you hate it when you're chick bothers you during game time. I, too, hate it. I just never knew what it felt like really. She is a friend and I was giving her the head nod every 5 minutes or so just so she knew I was listening, or at least pretending to. It's kinda hard to tell that person that you want her to shut it so I can watch. I mean, I did kind of drag her to this bar with me. And I rushed her.

You see, we got to the hotel around 12:20pm and told her she better be ready in 5 minutes so that we can get a seat at the bar in case that place gets busy. She didn't really get it, but I told her about the bar I go to back home in California. If you're not there at least 15-20 minutes before the game starts, you're screwed...especially if Pittsburgh is the early game.

Well, Blinco's is a cool place. And it wasn't busy when we got there, but it did get busy later. I could only really watch the Bears/Vikings game and the Steelers/Cincy game. The other tv's are too far or too small to watch and, like I said, this girl I was with was talking up a storm. Maybe not being able to completely concentrate was a good idea. I did end up winning and I missed most of players making these amazing plays. Eh, at least I got some good food and a few Blue Moons.

So, I won. And this was my lineup:

QB Kyle Orton
283 PaYds,2 PaTDs - 20.12

RB Brandon Jacobs
69 RuYds,2 RuTDs,6 ReYds - 19.50

RB Sammy Morris
138 RuYds,1 RuTD - 19.80

WR Brandon Marshall
77 ReYds,7 RuYds - 8.40

WR Santonio Holmes
89 ReYds - 8.90

WR Lee Evans
89 ReYds,1 ReTD - 14.90

TE Heath Miller
13 ReYds - 1.30

OP Matt Cassel
185 PaYds,3 PaTDs,1 RuYd - 19.50

K Robbie Gould
6 XPs,2 FGs - 11.00

TDSP New York Giants
17 PTs - 15.00

I'd like to thank my opponents players for choking last week for I probably would not have won if they had played like they usually do. And of course, my team did rock it last week. It was a pretty fabulous weekend. Keep up the good work!

One more thing, NO CHICKS ALLOWED! Never again on Sunday. All day Sunday! Not, especially, when I'm a champion. That's it. Or, join me, please. But, this time, I will ignore you.

P.S. I am not particularly a Giants fan, but I felt like a champ last week and this is the only video I could find pertaining to football and Queen's feel-good song.

Show me the money, Jerry!!

In case you haven't seen FFOC Commissioner, Jerry Rice's FFOC fantasy football team, he just posted it yesterday under his Commissioner Blog. So, what do you think? It's funny that Mr. Rice was struggling at the start of the season. When I first was given the opportunity to blog on the FFOC site, I was struggling too. Then, I was told Mr. Jerry Rice, himself, was 0-3. I was told not to feel too bad. FFOC was right. I didn't feel that bad anymore. Well, now that Jerry was kind enough to show us what he has in his lineup, it all makes sense now. I almost have the same lineup as Jerry, believe it or not!! Not all, but a few.

QB
M.Hasselbeck, K.Orton, J.Kitna, B.Griese
RB
J.Addai, B.Jacobs, M.Lynch, F.Taylor, F.Jones, R.Johnson
WR
B.Marshall, C.Ocho Cinco, L.Evans, D.Bowe, R.Meachem, S.Breaston
TE
C.Cooley
TD/ST
Packers, Patriots
K
S.Suisham

Addai/R. Johnson - I have in one league.
Jacobs - I have in another.
Marshall/Evans - I also have both in one league.

Well, gee, Jerry. I could've just chatted with you the past 6 (almost 7) weeks about the struggles of fantasy life here at FFOC. We have definitely been plagued by injuries, not to mention a certain suspended player etc. This has really been an emotional roller coaster of events. Losing bad, almost winning, and maybe even a win or 2 another week. I can see why you may need a little advice from the rest of us players and not being ashamed to show us your team. I'm sorry, dude. I get it. Really, I do.

So, how does this work, Jerry? If you end up have an amazing team here at FFOC...does that mean you, too, can also win a Million? Wow...well SHOW ME THE MONEY, JERRY!!

Or if you can't do that, will you at least do what you're doing in this video in Vegas for the FFOC Championship? Ha...you are amazing! You rock, Jerry!

There's a loser bracket, right?

It is Sunday. I wake up and it's Reveille playing on my cell acting as my alarm clock. It's 9:10am PST. I immediately jump up and head over to my MacBook and start typing away the web addresses to all my fantasy leagues I'm in this season. FFOC.com is always the first league I check for the latest notes, to make changes, drop, add, etc. I rush and rush to pick up a WR since Santonio Holmes and Lee Evans are on bye this week. I stumble upon Marty Booker and pray that he will be my savior this week. Next, I fix my other fantasy teams, head over to my pick'em leagues, and make my picks in my ESPN Streak For The Cash game. After all is done, I check my watch and see it is now 9:45am. Not caring what I look like whatsoever, I race down to the sports book at the Palazzo in Vegas where I am staying for the Columbus holiday weekend.

I am frantically searching for this sports book I know I saw the night before. After I ask someone directions and not having a clue what the spreads for this weeks games are, I find it and have exactly 10 minutes to make a bet.

Aside from getting about 8 total hours of sleep this past weekend in Vegas, losing all my football bets at the sports book at the Palazzo, and coming home to Southern California where the winds are blowing about 30mph and it's still 90 degrees out...I am still holding my head up high and pulling for my teams here at the FFOC...even though I did end up losing this week.

I could've won my football bets. 3 team parlay - Saints (7)...check...Jets (13.5)...check...Bears (3)...AHHHHH!!!!! I don't want to talk about it anymore. Nor, do I want to talk about my other bets.

SO, my teams with the FFOC...you might be asking? Forget it. I lost so bad you would've thought I was trying to lose on purpose. You would single me out like the ones most of the FFOC members call out on the Forums in the FFOC Community section. I really have decent players. Maybe I have players that aren't good anymore or who are hit or miss/do or die players this season, but decent. The byes really screw me and having everyone in these leagues hoarding all the good ones leaves me no player to pick up off of waivers/free agents/bidding process.

Here is my lineup. I cringe to even post it, but I feel you are entitled to look and poke fun at it...or me for that matter.

J. Delhomme
J. Addai
R. Johnson (yes, I know, so save it!)
T. Owens
P. Burress
I. Bruce
Z. Miller
K. Orton
S. Gostkowski
Baltimore Ravens

Total points for Week 6? Drum roll please..........................

50.92

I really don't have to explain it. You saw the games. Disappointing. I'd like to thank the following players for not contributing points to that total like I expected them too....

Delhomme, thank you for no TD passes.
Addai, for getting injured...what's new in this blog post?
Johnson, eh, who am I kidding? I expected that!
T.O., double thanks to TO and Romo and his lil pinky.
Bruce, huh?
Orton, what happened to 3 TD's per game?
Ravens, #1 defense? Yeah, shows for the -2.00 you gave me.

Well, the good thing is that there really is a loser bracket...it's called the Red Zone Bracket in the FFOC. Even if I tank that bad to not win anything, I am starting my own Loser Bracket. You're all invited! Details are sort of up in the air right now. Only thing I know for sure is that it will definitely be in Vegas alongside the "winners" in the Las Vegas Bracket.

Are you an FFOC loser as well? Ideas? Let's get together and make it happen. Post your comments today!!!

Hallelujah!!!! Uh, or so I thought....

This is my reaction to my FFOC fantasy teams in Week 5...AMAZING! HALLELUJAH!!! I am on a roll! Not only did I just win, I blew my opponents away! So, you can kiss my big, brown football!

This is for all the teams that are in a FFOC fantasy football funk and won in Week 5...

Now, this is my reaction to my FFOC fantasy teams for Week 6...so far...(as week 6 is not quite over yet)...

Ok, so maybe it's not how I really feel, but it is just another day with the media for Mr. Crybaby...I mean T.O.

Who's gonna fight and die for that inch? Now, what are you gonna do?

Need some motivation now that we are almost into our 5th week here in football? Where are you at? What's your standing? This is how I climb out of my funk, week-by-week. Who's gonna fight and die for that inch? Now, what are you gonna do?

Sunday Funday...more injuries Monday!!

Is it completely wrong to be at a sports bar from 10:15am until 9:00pm? Oh, I'm just asking because that is exactly what I did this past football weekend...by myself. You see, nobody I know is free to watch football all day like that. Then, I have those friends who only want to watch "their team". I save Sunday's for football. My family and friends know this. I have met a lot of people at this bar from last season and some new ones this season, so I never really feel like I'm alone. You're probably wondering if I left that place completely intoxicated. I didn't. I knew I was probably going to stay there all day so I paced myself. Plus, I gotta take notes and keep up with all the games...it's impossible for me to be intoxicated all day. And I'm not here to promote that really. The only thing that did happen Sunday that really made me mad was that someone stole the latest ESPN mag I had with me and my fantasy notes I kept inside of it. Grrrr...I doubt your reading this, but, you suck!!!

I keep tons of notes on my players, my opponents players, possible players to pick up and so on. I also write out what would make for a good blog this week. But now it's all gone. And I didn't even get to read the mag. Sheesh, is the economy that tough you can't go out and buy your own mag?

Injuries. Where should I start? To begin with, I am a professional "injury player, picker upper". Does that make sense? Basically, if you've read my previous blogs then you know that I have all the season ending injury players. And after this weekend, how 'bout I add a couple more to that list.

Let's start with Westbrook. I actually did not have him. But I did make a bid for his backup. Correll Buckhalter, aka Mr. I-left-midway-thru-the-game-with-a-lower-back-contusion Buckhalter, got him and, of course, started him. At least I was able to get 66 yards and a touchdown out of him. Then, crazy enough, I also had Lorenzo Booker. He is Buckhlater's backup and picked him up because, 1. I have almost everyone on my roster on bye and, 2. he was supposed to get some looks and crazy enough, he did. I just wasn't thinking it was because Buckhalter would get hurt. That was a dud though. I got a whole 7 yds, for a whopping .40 points for him. But I knew that ahead of time. There just wasn't anyone else to pick up.

Then, we have the big replacement starter. Steeler's RB, Rashard Mendenhall in for Willie Parker. Sheesh, did the guy even get a chance to play? I got 3.60 points out of him before his, yes you got it, SEASON ENDING INJURY!!! The little rookie guy ended up with a fractured left shoulder. Bummer, a rookie I took a chance on, didn't think I'd ever start this season, finally got to, and BAM! Season ending injury. Surprised? I'm not. I mean, I never wish upon injury on someone and feel bad when they do get injured, but I'm not surprised that my roster continues to fall apart every week.

Speaking of injuries, let's pray Anquan Boldin recovers quickly and returns to the field when he is 110%. I really don't want to talk about it much and I know it may be controversial and stuff, especially reading what someone had to say on a thread on the ffoc.com forums, but Eric Smith could not have possibly intended for that hit on Boldin. Smith was fined $50,000 and suspended for 1 game. What they don't show on those replay tapes is Eric Smith on the ground as well. Smith says he was knocked unconscious too. I'm sure if you didn't want your opponent to catch the ball you wouldn't intentionally injury yourself quite to that extent. Anyway, that's my 2 cents about all that.

I would like to add that Mr. Tommy John, Jake Delhomme, did well for me this week putting up 294 Yds and 2 TDs. And I picked up Orton and he wasn't a bad pick up with 199 yds and 3 TD's.

Something I will have to worry about in Week 5? Plaxico Burress. It just keeps getting better.

Favre '09...the Favre curse.

36.56....total points following the FFOC scoring system. 6 TD's? Yikes! 3 TD's to L. Coles before the half, 2 more to Cotchery then 1 more to rookie TE, Dustin Keller. That's exactly what Favre did this past Sunday for the Jets. So, the question is, has Favre broken the Madden curse this season? Do you believe in the Madden curse? Brett Favre currently graces the cover of the video game, Madden '09, created by EA sports. Favre dons his #4 Green Bay jersey on the cover. If you want to know more about the Madden curse, here's a link that I found online that can help.

And a recap of the amazing event...

Smack talk on my teams? Go ahead. I can take it. I’m a big girl.

Ever get knocked in the knee with a drink cart at 35,000 feet? It happens. I’m currently 1 1/2 hours into my flight on my way home to L.A. via Detroit. Anyway, I quickly try to rub off the pain and decide I’ll worry about the blood that’s gushing where my kneecap once was later and get back to studying my FFOC fantasy players and the rest of what I predict is going to happen in Week 4 of football. My strategy this week? No more praying to these Football Gods I spoke of last week. I am, plain and simple, going to bank on my players doing what they know best...PLAY FOOTBALL!!

So, I’m afraid to show my lineup to all of you, but I’m gonna do it anyway. It sucks, I warn ya. Remember, I have been horribly cursed with season ending injuries, or me being old school, pick up veterans or who I think still has it in them. And worst of all, Week 4 is the first week of byes (aside from Baltimore and Houston who were forced to take their byes early) and guess whose roster probably has the most players on bye? Here goes my lineup...

QB: Kyle Orton
RB: Maurice Jones-Drew
RB: Rashard Mendenhall
WR: Santonio Holmes
WR: Brandon Marshall
WR: Lee Evans
TE: Heath Miller
OP: Correll Buckhalter
K: Nate Kaeding
DEF: San Francisco 49ers

QB: Jake Delhomme
RB: Lorenzo Booker
RB: Selvin Young
WR: Terrell Owens
WR: Chansi Stuckey
WR: Isaac Bruce
TE: Visanthe Shiancoe
OP: Kyle Orton
K: Nate Kaeding
DEF: Baltimore Ravens

I know. Leave me alone. Maybe it’s my fault for bragging on the FFOC Blog Opportunity thread that in my very first fantasy league I joined 5 years ago, I went undefeated 12 games. Call it beginners luck I guess. Maybe because I’m not playing for $50 here. Or maybe my crap teams make it better to blog about, because you all know you have a better team than me unless, say you were FFOC owner #6660. All I know is this 10-team league deal in the FFOC isn’t as easy as 10-team fantasy leagues normally are. I mean, you have 10 bench positions as well. And you know, you got people hoarding the good ones. I am not one of them, as you can see. I was even scrambling near the end. Go ahead. Give me your best smack talk. Take your best shot. I’m a big girl.

Rashard Mendenhall, thank you for coming in handy this week. Let’s hope Buckhalter does too. Had to put Evans in, in place of Brandon Lloyd who I just read got a hip injury in practice this week. Game time decision. Don’t you just love it when they say that? Orton, you better connect. Yeah, I still have hope for Mr. Tommy John. Oh, yeah, L. Booker? Uh, that's all that's left on the free agent list that may get some looks today. Ok, maybe a small prayer today.

Enjoy this video of one of my favorite commercials...again, may the best fantasy team win.

I think I'll bench myself this week, thank you.

So, the Football Gods forgot to answer my prayers for Week 3 and, instead, decided to answer the prayers of my opponent in my FFOC league. Why is that now that I'm in the running for a Mill, my fantasy teams start to tank? Well, I have a pretty sweet team in my non-payout fantasy league with my buddies, but of course, that doesn't count. I made mistakes in my initial draft. I know this. But, now this is just ridiculous. Here's what went wrong in Week 3.

Let me start with who did do well for me, RB Joseph Addai. And this guy has not had the best season so far. He rushed 16 times for 78 yards against Jacksonville, Sunday, which, let's face it, is not his best. But it beats 64 yards on 27 carries which is all he totaled from his first two games.

And, um, well that's where it ends. Addai didn't want to make me, A-Die, this past Sunday. But everyone else in my team did. I almost need a dramamine pill to get over this uneasiness I have in my stomach, but I realize that it's not motion sickness at all. It's just me rocking back and forth, crying like a baby and admitting that I have a terrible team. Everyone in my team has fallen to some sort of season ending injury or is out for 4-6 weeks with some ACL, MCL, OCD problem. I've got Mr. Bursa Sac and Mr. Tommy John promising me a great season until the season actually started. Now I've got "promising" TE Shockey out the weeks where the FFOC counts, big time.

It gets worse. I could've won. Here are 2 players and a defense I benched because I think everyone else would have as well. No, I didn't have the "in your face" Ronnie Brown like some did, instead I have Mr. Hamstring, injury-prone, Rudi Johnson. 83 RuYds, 48 ReYds, 1 ReTD totaling 19.10 points by FFOC's scoring system. Instead, I put Selvin Young in. I know, I know. He isn't the greatest, but Johnson? Apparently, K. Smith is not going to see much time now that ol' Rudy's got the playbook down . But, I'm sure this is a one-time deal here and Detroit has a Bye, Week 4, everything changes after a Bye.

Then I picked up 2 WR's as a backup. There are many people I can easily discard in my team, you see. Chansi Stuckey and Keary Colbert. Guess who I started? Uh-huh, Colbert. Why? He was the only starter in Seattle's lineup that surpassed everyone and I thought he could do it. Plus, he's a former Trojan, sorry, a little impartial. But, I should've known. Hasselbeck says he is "uncomfortable: with his revolving receiving line. Stuckey had a great game in Week 2 with 2 TD's, but who knew he would get thrown to again for another TD? That's another 10.20 points on the bench. And last, an extra 19 points could've been added to my team if I would've started Baltimore's D. There is no explanation. Only to tell you that I favored the Giants defense, who only gave me 5 points.

My score for Week 3....a jaw-dropping 64.10 My optimal score for Week 3....99.40. I would've beat my opponent by 1.94.

I think I'm ready to bench myself at this point.

Good Morning Football Fans...it's Week 3!

Good luck. It's going to be another amazing week for fantasy football fans! I prayed and prayed to the Football Gods last night and still this morning. Did you? Let's see if it worked.

Wow, Jerry Rice, FFOC Commissioner is 0-4 for the season in his FFOC league. Hmm, I don't feel so bad anymore.

Just a video that usually gets me pumped for Sunday football...may the best fantasy team win.

Week 2...the aftermath.

This is the blog I dread to write. I can be a smack talker when I wanna be. Or when I can be. Week 2 is a good example of not being in a good position to be a smack talker. This is how Week 2 starts for me.

Last Sunday I was at my usual bar with my fantasy notes and sports mag in tow. It's not as busy as it usually is at 10 am on Sunday, Football God's Day, in California. You see, this bar is predominately a Steelers bar and the Steelers played the late game. Don't ask me why it's a Steelers bar. Maybe because I live in SoCal where we still don't have our own football team, maybe these are band wagoners from SuperBowl XL, or maybe they're actually from Pittsburgh. Whatever it is, it's not busy. I watch the games. All of them. Although, audio is only on for the Jacksonville/Buffalo game. Detroit vs Green Bay is on in the main dining area, but I'm not there to eat. It's all beer and football for me Sunday...every Sunday. Then, it's like watching the games in slo-mo. My players start to go down one-by-one.

Week 2 goes a lil something like this. In short, I lost. Both of my FFOC leagues. Let's start with the conference I had to go to that I mentioned in my last blog. Because I was stuck in that conference with no access to the FFOC site, I had Reggie Brown starting. There were reports that he was ready to go. But like every last minute news from football camps, they pull him at the last minute.

Then, I have Delhomme. Cris Collinsworth swears now that Steve Smith will be debuting in Week 3, Carolina is the team you have to watch out for. I'm positive he's not talking about Delhomme's performance in Week 2. He was 12-21, passed for a total of 128 yds with no TD's and 1 INT . No TD'S!!

I took a chance on Cassel connecting with Moss for Week 2. Yes, I am 1 of 660 players who drafted Brady in the FFOC. Efficient to say the least, just not Brady-esque quite yet.

Then there's Hank Baskett. I picked him up to replace Nate Burleson who is out for the season due to some mysterious knee injury. You know what I mean, you've watched the highlights. Baskett had a great game Week 1 that included a TD. Week 2, not so much. Got me a great 10 yds for a total of 1 whole point. And so maybe Philly should learn to just give it to Baskett and not to Mr. Showboater, DeSean Jackson.

You see, I'm struggling here. Especially, somewhere around the QB region. Between my 2 FFOC leagues, I have Cassel, Pennington, Delhomme, and Joe Flacco. I don't know how that happened. And trying to pick up free agent QB's are tough. They're either guys I don't want or can't get because someone else will pick'em up before I do. Like JT O'Sullivan, QB I do want. Tyler Thigpen, QB I don't want.

Please say a prayer to the Football Gods for me tonight. Also, can somebody find me a prayer like this one, preferably one pertaining to American football? This one rocks!

DeSean "WACKson" Jackson.

So, I was watching the Monday Night Football game alone in a noisy, smoky Michigan bar. Ah, just the way I like it. AAA was having a convention there and I was there for a conference as well. Why do all the silly plays have to happen when I'm by myself and can only share it with a bunch of Labatt drinking strangers?

Yes, I know. We all saw it. The "What an idiot!" move. The He-cost-me-20 points-and-gave-my-opponent-who-had-Westbrook-6 points-for-a-TD-in-my-fantasy-football-league-and-now-I'm-screwed move. For those of you who didn't see it or would just LOVE to see it again, here is the Eagles vs Cowboys, Monday Night Football game...

Unfortunately, it gets worse. Here's an even more embarrassing fact from the rookie ding-dong. He apparently went in for a touchdown in the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas but not before he somersaulted in and dropped the ball on the 1-yard line. Here's a clip. It's an awful clip, but couldn't find the real deal...

Here's a random CFL touchdown celebration that you have to see. The Canadians crack me up!! It has something to do with a football and some guys groin...

So, how bad did Jackson screw up your team?

Fantasy football update.

I know. I'm terrible. It's been a month since I wrote up a new post on my blog here and week 2 is almost over.

I am going to start here and maybe back track a little on my next blog.
I am in 3 total fantasy football leagues.
1 with a few friends through Yahoo and 2 with the FFOC. I could've been in more, but last year I was in 4 and had a tough time keeping track and found myself concentrating on my non-payout leagues and struggling in my main money leagues. 3 is good. Not too many and enough to handle. Yes, I also ended up putting up more cash to play in another FFOC league, but that's because I thought my 1st draft was awful due to being stuck with the dreaded, auto-draft...long story, save for another blog. Definition of auto-draft, you ask? Basically, a sucky, horrid computer generated draft. This will happen if you can't/don't show up for your live draft. Boo, yes, that was me. A no-show at my 1st FFOC draft.

Let's get to the good stuff. Here is my lineup for Week 2. I will explain my drafts and Week 1 at a later time.

QB: Matt Cassel QB: Jake Delhomme
RB: Maurice Jones-Drew RB: Joseph Addai
RB: Brandon Jacobs RB: Selvin Young
WR: Brandon Marshall WR: Terrell Owens
WR: Santonio Holmes WR: Plaxico Burress
WR: Hank Baskett WR: Reggie Brown
TE: Heath Miller TE: Jeremy Shockey
OP: Chad Pennington OP: Tarvaris Jackson
K: Neil Rackers K: Stephen Gostkowski
DEF: New York Giants DEF: Arizona Cardinals

QB: Ben Roethlisberger
RB: Ladainian Tomlinson
RB: Reggie Bush
WR: Terrell Owens
WR: Braylon Edwards
WR: Chris Chambers
TE: Jeremy Shockey
W/R: Selvin Young
K: Robbie Gould
DEF: Dallas Cowboys

Yes, it looked good to me at first. Some are better than others. But I am struggling. Obviously.

Next blog.....Week 2...the aftermath.

Backup Blues

When is it time to suck it up and just take a backseat to the starting QB? Brett Favre refuses, as well as, Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals. It’s tough. Brett Favre finally got his wish and was traded. Good for him. Even though we all know that’s not where he really wanted to go. Honestly, I would rather Brett go to Tampa than sign with the Jets. If the NFL just allowed Brett to talk with any of the teams in Green Bay’s division, (NFC North, my favorite division) I’m sure he would have picked Minnesota or Chicago, especially since Minnesota was allegedly in talks with Brett’s camp first. A lil unfair if you ask me. The next question now is who is going to start for the Jets? Still have Chad Pennington on the roster as starting QB. Just a few days ago, reporters asked who he thought was going to take the job as starting QB for the Jets if Brett Favre came to New York. Pennington reportedly said, “We’re on a need-to-know basis and we don’t need to know right now.” Uh, guess "need-to-know time" is now! Better start showing what you got now Pennington, there’s a new QB in town. Wow.

Look at Kurt Warner. He absolutely refuses to be a backup...to anyone. He says he is a starting QB and still has it in him. I mean, it’s true in some ways. Warner threw for 27 touchdowns last season. That’s one more than Carson Palmer had and only 4 less than Peyton and Warner wasn’t even in for the whole season. He’s also completed 62.3% passes in his last 4 seasons. But, he is almost close to 40 years old and let’s face it, he’s not the same SuperBowl MVP we knew from 2002. Who knows at this point, anyway? If Leinart stays healthy, Warner may have to be his backup. There is always Chicago that’s open for a good veteran, but I am a Bears fan and I’m always pulling for a rookie than a veteran. I’d leave some room for Favre. I’d probably even start him over the Grossman/Orton fiasco. Which is almost comparably deciding on a high performance vehicle over a 10-speed bike/tricycle. But, the focus here is on the backup QB blues.

We’ve got less than a month before the season starts. Who's picking up either of these guys?

Finally. The FFOC.

I did it. I forked up the $125 for the Fantasy Football Open Championship. Yeah, I'm a tightwad. I'm only doing one team 'cuz I'm doing this on my own. Apparently, its the first year for the FFOC. But Fanball.com runs it and they've been running drafts and play leagues for a few years now, just not one with a huge payout and a trip to Vegas, my other home. It would be a great idea to get 10 teams for $1000 and get 9 other friends to pick their own draft days and play it as if we were doing our own personal draft. Winner splits the big Jackpot of $1,000,000 and each player still gets $100,000. Not bad for a $100 buy in. Even the 3-team isn't a bad idea. Like I was telling a friend of mine. $300. We split it, its $150. I pick a team, he picks a team, and the other team we do together. Either of us go to Vegas and win the mil, its 50-50 baby!

So, I'm an idiot though. I signed up at the last minute thinking I could draft today. The last day of July. Ok. I was wrong. They're on Central time and the offices, I'm assuming, are closed and now my account is pending approval. So, bummer. No draft tonight. And I wanted to call out a few suckers on that last draft because they had a discussion going on in the forum calling for "more fellas" and "boys" to join and make it a 10 team league. Of course, I added to the post to remind them that there are a few girls who also play in the FFOC. Ahem!

So, as of now, my draft in scheduled for Saturday, August 16 at 5:00pm PST. And an alternate date on Monday, August 18 at 4:00pm. It's all tentative and you change it around and stuff, especially, if you wanna pick a league where its almost filling up or if maybe you wanna draft later when you know which players ended up tearing an ACL/MCL or some groin strain during practice or preseason.

I love it. Football is just around the corner now and I am getting butterflies! It's homework time and I need to get to studying. I've actually been doing it all day today since I knew I'd be signing up soon. So, check out ffoc.com. Fanball.com has a few other draft and play leagues that I might also join later in August. They have affordable leagues, salary caps etc. All with great payouts. Let me know. I'll help ya with your picks if you need it!

Gumbel, Grumble...make some room for Papa!

Is it me or can anybody else NOT stand Bryant Gumbel run play-by-plays? Ok. So it's probably like 90% of the NFL fan population, but who's counting? Apparently, Mr. Gumbel is the one who asked for a resignation. Ha!

According to Nfl Network chief Steve Bornstein, he reportedly told the New York Times, "What happened is we had a conversation and we agreed to go in different directions. It's really as simple as that."

Is it now? Hmm. How simple is this? Maybe some of you never paid any attention to Gumbel. Maybe you didn't hear him do his play-by-play in his usual 'Ed Bradley, 60 minutes voice. Maybe you forgot about his many mistakes on live TV, like getting Dallas Cowboys QB, Tony Romo's name wrong after a win against Green Bay. Remember this?

Classic! If you didn't catch it, and I'm sure you did, he called him Rick Romo.

So, move over, Mr. Gumbel. There's a new guy in town. Make some room for Papa, or better known as, Bob Papa, a 13 season, radio play-by-play announcer for the New York Giants. He will be teaming up with HBO: Inside the NFL host and former Cincinnati Bengals WR, Cris Collinsworth. Together they will host 8 Thursday night games on the NFL network starting with the first Thursday night game where Cleveland will host Denver on Nov. 6.

Looking forward to it! I'm pretty sure Cris is too. I heard it in Collinsworth's voice. Thanks Papa. Thanks for bringing joy back to my ears. Sorry, Bryant. It's just football. And one more thing, it's Frank Gore, not Al.

The First Blog.

It's currently 1:16 am on a Monday night/Tuesday morning. I know. I created this blog a week ago or so and still haven't written a single blog. I tell ya, the best time for me to blog is around this time. I don't sleep well. It's usually the time I like to fart around on my laptop and totally surf the web. Especially now. Fantasy football stuff is starting and I am getting anxious. This is sorta why I created this blog. I know sports. I'm serious. I've been playing fantasy football since 2003 and have been obsessively addicted to it ever since! I always watched sports before that, but never knew players like I do now.

In jr. high/high school and on, I was obsessed with baseball. The Atlanta Braves. Or David Justice to be more precise. I knew the freakin lineup, stats, jersey numbers, etc. by heart. I remember doodling that shit on my pee-chee folder nearly everyday at school because I was that obsessed. I would come home from school and watch the games. The whole game. And never get bored like how most people get when they talk about how boring baseball is to watch on TV. Pee-chee. Ha! That's funny. Remember 'em?

So here it is. My first blog. I probably will blog a lot about football since the season is gonna start up pretty soon. And let me tell ya, it's not soon enough. But, I'm really hear to blog about sports in general, including crap, like poker and other table/card games and stuff. Because I know about all of it. It seriously is my hobby. Sports. Gambling. Vegas. You have no idea. I'm a serious tomboy. Jesus, I'm not saying I'm half man though. Although, it seems or sounds like it sometimes. I mean, I know about makeup and fashion and crap like that, but that's not my mission here. I mean business. The sporty kind of business. That's why my next blog is gonna be about www.ffoc.com. Check it out. Yes. I plan on signing up.
